[Faoii Our Correspondent.] INQUEST. At an inquest held before Mr A. E. Russell, district coroner, on Monday evening into the circumstances surrounding the death of George Robert Thompson, 24 years, who collapsed and died whilst having breakfast at his home. Long Point, Catlins, on Monday morning, a verdict of death from heart failure was returned. Dr H. N. Johnson held a post mortem, and evidence went to show that the deceased had been suffering from heart trouble for some years. BOWLING. The Bnldutha Ladies’ Bowling Club opened the season yesterday under ideal conditions. There was a good attendance, visitors being present from Gore, Kaitangata, and Stirling. Mr W. Mnync, president of the men’s club, welcomed the visitors, and expressed the hope that the ladies would have a successful season. The usual first bowl was not thrown, the “ kitty ” being placed in the middle of a rink, all ladies then rolling a bowl, the nearest to the “ kitty ” receiving a prize. This was won by Mrs D. Lattimore, with Mrs A. Marshall second. Afternoon tea was dispensed, and an enjoyable game of doubles indulged in. Representatives of visiting clubs returned thanks for the hospitality shown, and expressed best wishes to the Balclutha ladies for the coming season. On Monday (Labour Day) a team from St. Kikla will visit the Balclutha Club, while the Kaitangata and Stirling Clubs will conduct an open rink tournament,
