CLOUDY TO OVERCAST The following weather forecast • way issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts —Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton. Urepuki. Halfmoon Bay:— A deep westerly depression is now crossing the Dominion. Pressure has risen considerably over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Moderate but freshening northerly winds, turning to-night to south-westerly, or southerly. Weather, cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain probable; temperatures becoming cooler. Seas, moderate on the East Coast, elsewhere rather rough. LOCAL CONDITIONS. There was no great variation this morning from the conditions prevalent yesterday afternoon. The sky was moderately clouded till near noon, w;hile a light north-easterly breeze had a cooling effect on temperatures, which wera rather lower than those of yesterday, owing to the absence of sunshine. About noon, however, there were spasmodic periods of sunshine, and '• it seemed likely that the cloud bank would disappear later to permit suriny and mild conditions. Barometric pressure at midday was falling at 29.4 in. OTHER CENTRES. The following information is abridged from the report issued by the Meteorological Office at 9 this morning : Weather.
