OVERCAST— SOME RAIN The following weather forecast was issued at noou by the .Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—-Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton. Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— \ Pressure is still high to the cast* though falling somewhat, while over the South Tasman Sea and southern. New Zealand it is low. The pressure gradients have, however, on the whole decreased, and a change to a westerly type of weather is apparently developing. Forecast: Moderate to fresh northeasterly to northerly winds, later tending to north-west or west. Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty, with intermittent rain still probable. Temperatures moderate. Seas rather rough. LOCAL CONDITIONS. In direct contrast to the preceding week, boisterous conditions were experienced in Dunedin over the weekend. There was a high wind on Saturday and temperatures were cold, whila yesterday, though the wind had decreased in force, there was still a strong one, while scattered showers fell. This morning there were early light showers, but for the greater part of the forenoon the weather was fine, though the sky was heavily overcast, and it was evident at midday, when barometric pressure in the city was falling at 29.45 in, that rain was not far distant. A moderate north-easterly breeze prevailed, but the atmosphere was rather mild, the maximum and minimum thermometer registrations at the Gardens at midday from 9 o’clock being 58 and Sl.odeg respectively, as compared with the 24-hour readings of 52.3 and 49.6 deg and 52.2 and 46.3 deg yesterday and on Saturday respectively from the same hour. Rainfall to 9 this morning amounted to .Olin at the Gardens.
