BRITISH STATISTICS FOR JULY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 16. (Received August 17, at 8 a.m.) The overseas trade returns for July show that British exports were valued at £37,469,969, against £26,893.525 in June and £47,594.677 in July last year. Value of imports was £73,938.911, against £76,502.634 and £85,504,170 respectively; while re-exports were £4.555,213, against £4,987,170 a month ago and £68.034,462 a year ago. The figures for the first seven months of 1938, compared with figures for the corresponding periods of 1937 and 1936, were as follows :—lmports, £543,134,848 in 1938, representing a decrease of £25,835,218 compared with 1937, but an increase of £72,090,431 on 1936. The exports were £270,628,328 in 1938, a decrease of £28,296,391 compared with 1937, but an increase of £22,661,926 on 1936. Re-exports were £37.353,164 in 1938, a decrease of £9.992,485 compared with 1937, and a decrease of £88,791 compared with 1936.
