WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION Those present at the weekly meeting of the executive of the Women’s Hockey Association on Monday were Mrs Nelson (in the chair), Mrs Borthwick, Mrs Duncan, Misses Hill, Foley, Lee, Wilson Robinson, Mitchell, Morton, and Mr Wallace. MATCHES AT MILTON The secretary was instructed to write and thank the South Otago Association for allowing the use of its ground and for its hospitality last Saturday, and to the Central Otago team for travelling down to Milton to play. UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT The University Men’s Hockey Club was granted the use of the outside grounds at Logan Park, and the University Women’s Club the use of the inside grounds for the inter-university tournament on July 4,5, and 6d. The association agreed to arrange a representative match between an Otago team and the New Zealand University team on Wednesday, July 6. UMPIRES’ EXAMINATION Advice was received that the umpires’ theory examination had been tentatively arranged for August 11. SILVER TRAIL The amount collected in the silver trail competition was considered satisfactory, and the lucky ticket was announced as No. 2094. The position of clubs as far as collecting money is as follows: —Momona, Y.W.C.A., West Taieri, Otago. Carlton, Dunedin, Kings, Bounty, Training College. Brighton. West University. ENGLISH TEAM’S VISIT Arrangements were made for members of the executive and the Men’s Hockey Association, together with hostesses, to meet the English team on arrival at 4.18 p.m. to-morrow. In the evening the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) will extend a civic welcome to the team in the Council Chambers, and all players or others- interested are cordially invited. The following are the official representatives from various sports bodies: — Otago Rugby Union, Mr A. C. Haynes and Mr D. Spedding; Otago Football Association, Mr E. J. Anderson and Mr M. Haig; Men’s Hockey Association, Mr J. Hogg and Mr T. Mulholland; Hockey Umpires' Association, Mrs C. Sonntag and Mr T. Mulholland: Croquet Association, Mesdames W. E. Gibson and J. McDonald; 0.5.P.5.5.A., Mr Ironside and Mr J. Briggs. The Otago Basketball Association, the Otago Ladies’ Golf Club, and St. Clair Golf Club advised that they would also be sending representatives. On Friday morning the visitors will pay a visit to the Home Science School, and in the afternoon will hold a practice. A short broadcast will be given by a member of the team at 6.30. and another at 7.40. * The match will commence at 1.15 p.m. at Carisbrook on Saturday, and will be followed by the First Grade Rugby match, Zingari v. University A. A dinner will be held in the evening, and will be followed by an entertainment in Allen Hall. The team will be taken for a motor trip on Sunday, and will leave for Central Otago at 7.40 a.m. on Monday, when Mrs C. G. Hamilton, of Gore, will accompany the team. The Otago Football Association amj Men’s Hockey Association wrote stating that they were postponing all club fixtures on Saturday to allow players to see the visitors in action. THE OTAGO TEAM

The following team will represent Otago against the English team:—Goal, J. Anderson (Dunedin); full-backs, M. Fisher (Kings), E. Symon (Kings); halves —A. Mackie (Otago; captain), H. Robinson (Kings; vice-captain), B. Campbell (Otago); forwards —J. Thompson (Otago), J. Arnott (Kings), A. Harley (Kings), N. Cannon (University), R. Warburton (Otago); emergencies—backs, B. Andrews (University); forwards, M. Kerr (University). The Otago team will wear navy gym. frocks, white blouse, navy cap with white tassel, and navy pocket on gymn frock with white monogram. POSTPONED MATCHES. All matches in the Otago Hockey Association’s competition on Saturday are postponed, with the exception of the two following Second Grade matches, which were postponed earlier in the season:—Training College v. University D, at Oval No. 1, at 3 p.m. (Messrs J. W. Hayward and C. E. Hubbard); University C v. High School, at Oval No. 2, at 3 p.m. (Messrs R. and J. Campbell).
