ATTACK ON EVEREST

MESSAGE FROM TILMAN EXPEDITION RUMOURS OF EARLY MONSOON DISCREDITED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 20. (Received June 21, at 12.5 p.m.) A copyright message to ‘ The Times ’ from Mr Tilman, written from camp three on May 26, states that the North Col was occupied by four Europeans and 15 porters, and adds that the weather is good and there is no wind. This is the second message within two days after a silence long enough to start rumours that an early monsoon had caused abandonment. Such rumours are now shown to be at least premature. No information has been received that the party yet intend to return.
