MILE NIZAN

CONCERT TO-NIGHT To-night, Milo Nizan, the famous French organist, will give a recital on the Town Hall organ under the auspices of the City Council when the Dunedin public will have an opportunity of hearing an artist who has been acclaimed throughout the world as an outstanding concert organist. Mile Nizan has been well received by the ipublic at her recitals in northern towns, where;the'Pres's and the public were unanimous in acclaiming her marvellous technique and wonderful control of the organ. She presents her programme entirely from memory—a feat w’hich those conversant with the complexity of the modern concert organ din best appreciate. The performance this evening will be mainly of pieces new to Dunedin audiences, for Mile Nizan has chosen to play a majority of French compositions. The programme will open with tho exalting strains of Dallier’s ‘ Electa ut Sol,’ and it is safe to, say that from this magnificent ojiening to the final piece— 4 Toccata ’ from Symphonic V., a work by Widor—there will not be a dull moment. Another composition from the pen of Widor in the number, 4 Allegro, Sixth Symphony,’ is included, and' a place is also found for that delightful piece, 4 Noel ’ (d’Aguin) with its melodious theme echoing the fine joy of Christmas. The finale of 4 Noel 'is notable for the fine echo effects which are obtained. The other items are 4 Soeur Monique (Couperin), ‘Now Rejoice All Christians ’ (Bach), 4 Prelude, Fugue,- and Variations ’ (Franck), ‘ Scherzo,’ dedicated to Renee Nizan (de St, Martin), 4 Hymn au Soleil ’ (Vierne), 4 Stella Matutina ’ (Dallier). There is no question but that this young lady is mistress of the organ, and that behind her playing is not only a superb technique but an urge, a power that completely captivates, aba, at the same time, delights, her hearers. It is a rare occasion when the services of such an outstanding artist are available to our local public, and it is anticipated that a large audience will have the pleasure of hearing Mile Nizan’s work.
