TO-NIGHT'S BOXING CONTEST

To-night Bert Osborne, light-weight champion of Australia, will make his New Zealand debut in his match against one of the best welter-weight boxers of New Zealand, Les. Adams. Osborne, whose weight is 9.9, is considered the most rugged boxer of his weight in Australia, for he is a c.ever two-handed boxer as well as a haM fighter who considers attack the best means of defence. His punches are hard and short, and he has won a great number of bouts by knock-outs. Osborne has been in Dunedin about 10 days, and has been training at both Leckie’s and Langley’s gymnasiums. Les. Adams, his opponent, is not unknown to Dunedin audiences, as he fought here some months ago against Stan. Jenkin. Although he lost the bout, the decision met with a mixed reception. Sine© then Adams has fought practically every week and has won every bout. He has lately defeated Barney Downs, “Tiger” ,l >ar ks> New Zealand welter champion (Neville Mudgway) on two occasions, and also several other well-known boxers. Adams and Osborne are practically the same height, and Adams has the advantage of four pounds in weight. The preliminaries are many and varied Some 14 bouts have been arranged, and the first of these will be commenced at 7.15 p.m. Full details are advertised;
