MEEHAN BEATS FRALEY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 19. There was an abrupt termination to the contest at the Town Hall last evening between two Irish-Canadians, Pat Fraley and Pat Meehan, the referee disqualifying the former in the seventh round. After a series of elbow jolts, Fraley quickly tripped his opponent and caught him in a flying toehold. Meehan lost no time in tapping the mat as a sign ■ of submission, and the referee patted Fraley on the back to indicate that a fall had been awarded. Fraley, however, continued to apply pressure, and the referee had to force the men apart. Meehan lay on the mat holding his leg, which appeared to have been injured. The referee consulted Meehan, and then awarded him the decision. This met with a" very mixed reception, Fraley’s supporters evidently being of the opinion that if any disqualification was merited it should have been done immediately and not several seconds after the incident occurred. The first fall was obtained bv Meehan in the sixth round. He had Fraley in difficulties with a hammer-lock, the ropes saving the latter, but a second hammer-lock was immediately applied, combined with a wristlock. Fralev submitted and then remonstrated with the referee for not having had him released sooner. KENNEDY AND MOEN DRAW [Per United Press Association.] GREYMOUTH, June 19. Before only a fair crowd at the Town Hall last night. Jack Kennedy, I fist 41b, drew with Andy Moen, 16st 81b, each wrestler gaining a fall.
