CRASH INTO POLE

WELLINGTOH-AUCKLAHD TELEPHONE CALLS INTERRUPTED [P£r United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 19. A serious delay to direct telephonic communication between Auckland and Wellington was caused this afternoon when a motor car crashed into a roadside pple about a mile south of. Taumarunui and brought all the lines down. Three men in the car were injured and the car was extensively damaged. John Jamieson, of Taumarunui, was taken to the Taumarunui Hospital suffering from severe injuries to nis back. Thomas Neill was also admitted to the hospital suffering from minor injuries, and the third man, who was slightly injured, was not admitted to hospital. The accident happened about 4 p.m,, and it was not until over four hours later that direct communication with Wellington was restored. 'The car snapped the pole off near the ground, and the three circuits which are normally used for communication with Wellington and Palmerston North were broken.
