BASKETBALL
ALBANY I. v. O.G.H.S. Tho game between Albany I. and Otago Girls’ High School was bright, open, and exciting. Albany had a little better of the exchanges at the beginning. but their shooting was not up to standard. School were keeping then more experienced opponents very busy, and were playing a good type of basketball. Tho score at half-time was 1--5 in Albany’s favour. School opened the score in the second spell, but Albany scored immediately afterwards, and although they had the better of the game, the School team put up a ing fight. The final score was 17-8 in Albany’s favour. Mrs A. Lockhart was the referee. M'KENZIE’S v. ROSLYN. M'Kenzie’s scored first goal, but Roslyn were quid; to equalise, and by good team work were gradually able to establish a lead. The score at half-time was 12-4 in favour of Roslyn. In the second half M'Kenzie’s showed greatly improved form, and altogether they were unable to reduce their opponent s lead, added seven goals to their score, while Roslyn netted eight times, the final result being: Roslyn 20, M'Kenzie’s 11. Mrs E. M'Aughtrie was the referee. Y.W.C.A. v. TRAINING COLLEGE. The Y.W.C.A.-Training College game was won by the former team by a large margin, although the actual play was of a fairly close nature. Training College seemed to be suffering from the effects of its visit to Christchurch, and did not strike true form. The halftime score was 9-6 in favour of Y.W.C.A. Scoring was more prolific in the second half, the final whistle being sounded with the score standing at 22-13 in favour of Y.W.C.A. Mr J. Breese was the referee. RAWHITI v. TRAINING COLLEGE 11. Rawhiti defeated Training College 11. by 12 goals to 9. Scoring was slow in the first half, College failing to find the ring, and Rawhiti adding only five goals. Play speeded up in the second half and there was much more interception on the part of the College players. The final score was 12-9 in favour of Rawhiti. Miss M. Gardner controlled the game. UNIVERSITY V. ALBANY 11. University met Albany’ 11. on Logan Park I. The game was of a fairly close nature with University holding the advantage. Tho half-time score was: University 5, Albany 11. 3. The second half was of a similar nature to the first, with University holding the lead gained in the first half. The final score was: University 9, Albany 11. 7. Mr A. P.
