THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.
TO THE EDITOB, Sir,—Would you kindly find space in your columns to insert the following article which appeared in one. of the northern papers:— “ The proposals of the Government seem to us to be loaded in favour of the wastrel. The man with iniative and special ability, who by the practice of thrift is able to set aside something for his old age, is penalised not only by having to contribute 5 per cent, of his total income during the period, but at the end of the time he receives no benefit whatever, and may probably still have to find Is in the £ on the earnings which his hard-won savings provide.” A true Labour Government is one that will help the true Labour man whether he toils with his brain or whether ho toils with his hands, _ and not a Government that makes things easy for the loafer.—l am, etc., June 3. True Labour.
