(Received June 4, at II a.m.) The weather was sunny when the match Australia v. Gloucester was resumed this morning, O’Reilly and Ward were dismissed by Sinfield with successive balls, and then 'Tyler finished oif the Australian innings. Sinfield was applauded for the most outstanding figures against Australia so far on the tour. Gloucester commenced the second innings at 11.55 on a tricky wicket. Wickets fell rapidly, Allen again being the only batsman not scared by the spin bowlers. He had a life when 6, but hung on until 42. Finally he skied a bail from O’Reilly, atod the catch was accepted by M‘Cabe at forward square-leg. At the luncheon adjournment Gloucester had lost eight wickets for 86. Gloucester we re all out after 105 minutes’ play. O’Reilly and FleetwoodSmith bowled very well against bqtsmen who showed little skill. Australia needing 22 runs for a win. M‘Cabe offered batting practice to Waite and Ward, and. despite the loss of the whole of the first, day and 70 minutes of the second, Australia with the utmost ease won by 10 wickets with two and a-half hours to spare. TEST TRIAL MATCH
HAMMOND'S 1,000 RUNS DASHING DISPLAY BY FISHLOCK LONDON, June 3. (Received June 4, at 11 a.m.) In fine weather and on a drying widket, the first test trial was resumed at Lord’s this morning. At the luncheon adjournment England had lost seven wickets for 320 runs. Hammond, who was most cautions, completed his 1,000 runs for the season. Hammond, who batted nearjly four hours, gave five chances. Fishlock batted brilliantly in the Rest’s second innings, scoring 109 in 155 minutes. In a chanceless display he hit one 6 and 16 4’s.
