A STAGGERING STATEMENT.
TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—ln his interview with a deputation of retail dealers, reported in your issue last evening, the Prime Minister made one of the most staggering statements it has ever been my lot to read. He said: “We have already exceeded everything we promised to do when we came in, and no other Government can lay claim to that.” Ye gods! What about the broken promises in regard to the cost of living, the removal of the sales tax, and the rate of exchange? Readers can judge for themselves as to the truth or otherwise of the _ statement made by this boasting politician. Not one single Labour supporter can deny that those promises have been broken, nor can they justify such action on the part of the Government. Evidently Messrs Savage, Nash, and company believe that “promises are like pie crusts, made to be broken.”—l am, etc.. Disgusted. June 2>
