WRESTLING

MONDAY’S BOUT. The Otago Wrestling Association has been particularly fortunate in the bouts it has been able to book this season, with the result that the mat sport has never been in higher favour in Dunedin. On Monday night, the King’s Birthday, the Town Hall will provide the venue of a bout which can be depended upon to cause enthusiasm to run higher than ever. This will be a return contest between “ Singing Cowboy ” Pat Fraley, whose first visit to this city has been eagerly awaited, and Pat Meehan, the stalwart Canadian, who is a warm favourite with the local crowd. Fraley, ivho has been responsible for several sensations since his tour commenced, has always been a wrestling enthusiast, and started to learn all about it while he was still a hoy. He has been on the professional side of the game for about eight years, and few of his contemporaries have a better record. Not only has he mastered the orthodox holds, hut also he has at his disposal a mini her of electrical manoeuvres which he executes in a way which is all his own. Chief among these is his living toe hold, while the flying tackle and the forearm smash take on a new meaning when Fraley exploits them. Pat Meehan, however, has no cause to be concerned about his opponent’s reputation, as he gave Fraley all the latter wanted and more—the last time they met, and is confident of doing even better this time.
