(Received May 12, at 12.30 p.m.) A Bill to increase the salaries of members of Parliament and Ministers, and to provide a special allowance for the Prime Minister, was passed by the House of Representatives. The effect will be .to restore members’ salaries to the pre-depression rate of £I,OOO a year, raise the Prime Minister’s to approximately £4,000 a year, and increase the allowance to the Speaker and the President of the Senate from £1,942 to £2,300.
