£1,380,066 FOR BUILDINGS HEALTH CAMPAIGN [Feb United Press Association.] WELLINGTON' May 10.A combined meeting of the Educational Institute, the Technical School Teachers’ Association, and the Secondary School Teachers’ Association was addressed this morning by the Minister of Education, Mr P. Fraser. The Minister said that during the two years and five months the Government had been in office grants amounting to £.1,380,066 had been made for school buildings, of which £826,960 was in respect of primary schools. He referred to the increase in the size of school rooms, the increased grants to school committees, and the restoration of grants to kindergartens, as well as to the readmission of the five-year-olds. Four additional school medical officers had been anpointed, five additional nurses, and' 12 additional district nurses whose duties usually included school work. There were now 140 girls in training for the dental clinics and 20 new clinics were being established in districts where until now this service had not been available. The number of existing clinics had been strengthened, so that more children could be treated. Mr Fraser added that of the 282,000 school children in the Dominion 137,000 accepted milk, and the new schemes and extensions arranged included a further 14,600 children. It was estimated that 8000 Maori children would in the near future receive the benefit of the malted milk scheme. ,
