BASKETBALL
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS A meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Basketball Association was held in the Y.W.C.A. last Monday evening, and in the absence of the president, Mrs W. B. Taberner, was presided over by Miss M. A. Mackenzie Those present were Mesdames E. M’Aughtrie and J. Guthrie, Misses M. A, Mackenzie, E. Buchler, I. W. Knight, M. S. Fleming, E. A. Barrowdough, O. Abbott, S. E. - Foster, A. Brown, and M. Morton. A request from the Tennis Association for more stringent regulations governing the passage of players and spectators from the pavilion to the tenuis courts was received. The subsequent discussion resulted in the following motion being passed:—ln order to bring to the notice of basketballers the necessity of walking along the outside of the dividing fence, a fine of one penny for players and sixpence for officials will be levied against all those walking across the end of the tennis courts used by the United Club players, all members of the Management Committee to be responsible for enforcing this rule. VThp Constitution Sub-committee (Misses Barrowclough, Fleming, and Mackenzie) tabled a provisional report on the redrafting of the constitution. Plus was received, and the request for an extension of one month before submitting the 'final report was granted. Correspondence from the secretary of the Forbury School Committee concerning the use of the school basketball! court was received, and it was decided to accept the use of the courts on the terms suggested. On the motion of the Transfer Subcommittee, the transfer of Miss Mit- ® Defiance to Woolworths and of Miss P. Reidy from J. (R. M‘Kenzie s to Albany was granted, with the proviso that they stand down for the lirst two playing Saturdays. Further requests for transfers were submitted to the sub-committee for consideration. Miss Barrowclough reported that .training College Club was able to supply a number of referees for the Saturday games.—Received with pleasure. GRADING OF TEAMS. The grading of the teams entered in' the weekly competition was decided upon as follows : First Grade.—Otago Girls’ High School, Roslyn, Training College, Albany /Y’ Alban y P-;> R M'Kenzie’s, Y.W.C.A., Rawhiti, and University. Second Grade.—Kiwi, Y.W.C.A., University, Defiance, North-east Valley, Training College 1., Training College 11., Otago Girls’ High School, Woolworths, Albany, Roslyn 1., and Roslyn 11. Third Grade.—Arthur Barnett’s, Reehabites, Taieri, Kiwi, J, R. M'Kenzie’s, Cadbury Fry Hudson, Port Presbyterian, Ravens, Albany, Y.W.C.A., Rawhiti, Training College 1., Training College 11., Training College 111., Forbury 1., Forbury lE, Swifts, Findlay, and Glenross. Fourth Grade.—Kowhai. North-east Valley, Arthur Barnett’s, First Church, Musselburgh, Kiwi, St. Kilda, C.F.fL, Ultimax, Y.W.C.A., Roslyn, Elco 1., Elco 11.
