STREET IMPROVEMENTS.
~ - TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Mr. Cox,; speaking at South Dunedin., was reported as saying that the present council had increased the amount spent on street,: improvements by 56 per,-cent., as compared withnts immediate predecessors,; and it was quite impossible to provide more without increasing the rates. Notice particularly the increased amount spent. It is just a chance .that. Mr Cox has under-estimated, the amount when he mentions 60 per cent. Any resident about' Forbury Corner could not help but notice the amount that has been spent in the hire of heavy trucks alone, travelling about with water tanks.. What with watering and graders, the amount that has been wasted with them would have tar-sealed all the streets twice over.—l'am, etc., A Nonentity. May 7.
