SCOTTISH COMEDIAN
WILL FYFFE FROM DAVENTRY Famous among Scots comedians, Will Fyffo will be heard in transmission 4 from Daventry to-morrow morning at 8 o’clock. Will was born in Dundee, and, like his great contemporary Harry Lauder, early knew the meaning of poverty. As a lad he went to work in the mills for a few shillings a week, and later joined his father, who was trying to make a living by touring Scotland with a tent in which he gave several dramatic shows nightly. In this hard school Fyffe learned the elements of his art. Will Fyffe first appeared at the Palladium, London, in 1922, when his • song, ‘ I Belong to Glasgow,’ was an instantaneous success. With it he stepped into the front rank, and has never looked back. He lias appeared with great success in Canada, Australia, and South Africa, and is now winning fresh laurels in broadcasting and the films. .
