MATCH AT GREEN ISLAND A friendly match between ex-Green Islanders resident in Dunedin and the Green Island Club was played on Wednesday evening on the Green Island green. After an enjoyable game the visitors were entertained at supper by the members and ladies of the local club. During the evening the cup played for annually was handed to the winners by the president of the Green Island Club, Mr Smellie. Short speeches were made by the president and Messrs L. Millar, J. H. Matheson, A. E. Harraway, A. Canning, P, 0. Smellie, T. Irvine, A. Smellie, and C. Rawliuson. The following are the scores (Green Island names first): —J. Russell, H, Taylor, W. Smellie, A. Smellie 22, J. Martin, P. 0. Smellie, T. Irvine, D. Pastier 27; W. Watson, A. Buchanan, W. Brown, L. Millar 15, A. Canning, G. Lindsay, 0. Rawlinson, J. H. Matheson 18; H. Smellie, J. Lindsay, J., Walker, D. Sloan 13, W. Murie, J. Paterson, H. Harraway, A.' E. Harraway 21. Totals: Green Island 50, Old Boys 06. REAL ESTATE V. LAW The annual match between the real estate and legal fraternities was played on the Kaituna green under enjoyable conditions on Wednesday afternoon. After a keen struggle, in which the scores were practically even throughout the four rinks of play, the Real Estate ran out winners by 72 points to 70. The skips in the various games were: — A. MacDonald v. E. J. Smith, H. Reid v. J. M. Adam, P. W. Stabb v. G. Gallaway, L. J. T. Ireland v. R. S. Brown. Prominent among the players were Messrs W. R. Brugh and J. R. Bartholomew. At the social function after the game Mr L. J. T. Ireland, president of the Real Estate Institute, expressed the pleasure it had given him and his members to entertain the legal profession at this annual fixture. Mr Guy Sinclair, president of the Law Society, responded. The respective toasts of “ The Legal Profession ” and “ The Real Estate Institute ” were honoured by acclamation and song.
