Arthur Ernest M'Ginn, who, said Sergeant Lean, had a long list,.-but had been behaving himself very well foe some time, pleaded guilty to a_ charge of drunkenness. —Defendant said that he had tried to keep straight during the past few years, but had yesterday run into a bunch of tho boys whd had just received their pensions.’’ Ha was sorry for the slip he had made.—f Defendant was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. v A young man of 21 years ’ of aga pleaded guilty to charges of drunketu ness and damaging a cell pan to thd value of 4s 6d.—ln reply to the magis* trate,' defendant said he was a rarnt labourer and had been in five jobs during the past 12 months.—The Magistrate: ‘‘What’s the trouble? • —Defendant: “Oh, I don’t know.’— His Worship remarked that there must be something wrong if defendant could not keep his jobs - longer than that, and stood the case down in order that the probation officer might have a talk with defendant—When_ the. matter was resumed, the Probation Officer said that bad temper was evidently what was wrong with the young fellow.—His Worship said , he did not want to enter a conviction in this case, and would adjourn the matter for 12 months, conditional upon good behaviour on the part of the defendant and the payment by him -of cab fare (2s 6d) and the damage to the cell pan (4s 6d). MAINTENANCE. Morris Daniel Andrews (Mr J. L. Calder) did not appear to answer an a-pplication by his wife for maintenance, and guardianship orders, After evidence had been taken, tin orders asked for were made, wit! maintenance at 30s per iveek; £5 pari maintenance and costs (£I lis 6d) tf he paid, and guardianship of the chile to be with the wife.
