HOSPITAL ROMANCE
NURSE AND PATIENT As a sequel to a hospital romance between a nurse and a patient, a man who lost both hands has been married at Nottingham. The bridegroom was Mr George Roland Cullis, and his bride was Miss Dora Fantom. The ceremony took place at St. Paul’s Church, Hyson Green. The romance began over three years ago in Nottingham General Hospital. Mr Cullis was admitted to the hospital in September, 1934, after falling into a vat of boiling dye. He was under treatment until May, 1936, and remained cheerful in spite of nine operations and the loss of both- hands. Before his wedding he stated: “ I attribute my ability to survive'it all to my bride, who was nurse to me for two years. 1 received a card saying: ‘ Please get well quickly.’ It was not until a year later that I knew my well-wisher was the nurse who will now become my bride.” At the wedding ceremony the best man was a brother, Mr Frank Ernest Cullis.
