METHODIST CONFERENCE

HOTEL BAR HOURS [£eb United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 23. 'At the Methodist Conference, the effect of the shorter work on the amount of trade don©_ by hotels was discussed and a resolution carried urging further restriction of hotel bar hours. It was suggested that the Government should be asked to apply the five-day week to bars, but delegates said such a restriction would lead to a late night for bars, and the suggestion was rejected. A resolution expressing appreciation of the utterances of the High Commissioner, Mr Jordan, at Geneva in support of peace was carried when the committee’s report on peace was adopted. The committee recommended that church members study the subject of peace in relation to Christianity, and presented lists of both non-pacifist and pacifist literature suitable for this purpose.
