THE RAILWAY SERVICE,
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —Apropos of your “ local ” in this evening’s paper announcing a specially heavy train for Christchurch this morning, an event which appears to be of common occurrence, particiilarly on Saturday mornings, the Railway Department would appear to be only considering its own interests as well as those of the travelling public if it put on a night express for Christchurch every Friday evening. Such actio - would enable those of the public
who enjoy a five-day working week to have a two days’ spell at any place between her© and Christchurch., and would afford considerable relief to tlxe Saturday express, while inducing increased numbers of travellers. 1 am, e t CM Ivan E. Sutherland. February 12.
