COMMERCIAL BROADCASTING

TO THIS BDITOB. Sir Kindly permit me space in which to reply to “ Bored Listener. His letter unfortunately lacks the atmosphere of love that is expected among men nowadays, and it is my intention to help him to see at least one phase of his criticism relative to the ZB stations. The viewpoint, of course, is always the thing that matters, but ponder for a moment the substance of viewpoint and we find it to he thought. Your correspondent has measured up the services of the ZB stations with the yard stick of £ s. d., hut when weighed in the balance of spiritual values, 4ZB has been a God-send to the community. Whatever its shortcomings, or whatever its cost in material token, 4ZB is giving to the community simple logical facts concerning the Christ, Truthfacts that make men and women alert in their thinking, and so in turn manifest the spirit of brotherhood, development, intelligence, wisdom, progress, success, etc. Witli tlie advancement or such attributes money takes its natural course in society as the vehicle for exchanging services. .. . Anyone who keeps tuned in to 4ZB on a Sunday cannot help but benefit. The Country Church of Hollywood has a real value, which is sufficient to inspire even a dullard. Then in the evening the station director, Mr Len. J. Greenberg, always has a message which arouses the dormant state because of its logic and simplicity. I have heard his messages spoken well of, even days after, particularly among the younger generation. Surely this calls for gratitude. I would recommend to your correspondent a remedy I have found positive in results. Listen for the good that is being broadcast, and the mental storehouse will become so full of gratitude that the disturbing elements which, appear to have pride of place in consciousness will be given no resting place in which to propagate. Let us not be subservient to money paganism. Let us recognise the fact that substance is righteous thought, and in its track follows all that is good. The new stations are helping us to see these things from a common-sense point of view, and I for one trust their good work will continue until all men have learned how to protect their inalienable right to live, freed from the bonds of ignorance, hate, greed, selfishness, war.—l am, etc.. H. B. Bills. February 14.
