Arch Druid Bro. A. Harris presided over the regular meeting of Enterprise Lodge, held last Wednesday, when a good attendance of members greeted him. Amongst the correspondence was an invitation from All Nations’ Lodge to attend a function in honour of P.A. Bro. J. Craig and A.D. Bro. A. Harris, and V.A, Bro. J. W. Down were elected to represent the lodge. During the evening four candidates were initiated into the mysteries of Druidism, the ceremony being carried , out in a very creditable manner. The Bards’ report disclosed that a good deal of sickness is prevalent among the members, and sick pay amounting to £22 was passed for payment. The business cf the evening completed, the lodge stood adjourned, and the syllabus item, bowls, was carried out, with Bro. G. Alexander in charge. The result of the bowls competition was:—Ladies, Mrs A Harris 1, Mrs Workman 2; gentlemen, It. S. Webb 1. ' T ' At the last meeting of Ivanhoe Lodge Arch Druid Bro. W. Brockie opened the meeting and admitted A.D. Bro. Kit,to and officers of Mistletoe Lodge, who were present on invitation to work the lodge. On taking the chair and placing his officers in the various chairs, A.D. Bro. Kitto'.conducted the business for the evening, including the initiation of two new members. Two propositions for membership were received. P.A, Bro. Earnshaw, of Excelsior Lodge, Wellington, was a very welcome visitor, who briefly addressed the meeting. An invitation for the cricket team to journey to Seacliff on February 12 was received and accepted with pleasure. Supper was served and the rest of the evening was spent playing cards. Bay Lodge held its fortnightly meeting in the Masonic Hall, St. Hilda, on Monday, Arch Druid Bro. J. Johnston presiding over a good attendance of members. District President Bro. Thos. Clarke attended officially and was well received with musical honours. Reference was made to the passing of Bro. Thomas Harvey Reid, the lodge going into mourning for the evening. One member was proposed for membership. During the evening a Vice-arch competition was held, Grand President Bro. D. A. Young and District President Bro. T.* Clarke acting as judges. Nine competitors entered, and the winner was Past Arch Bro. J. R. Hay,, with Bro. W. B. Ruston in second place. In replying to the toast of district president, Bro. T. Clarke addressed the lodge at length on matters of interest in Druidism. „ R.A.D. Bro. Sheppherd presided over a good attendance of officers apd members at the last meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter, No. 1. Several lodge officers responded to the invitation to attend the meeting. The R.V.A. and R.A. Secretary were selected to represent the chapter at All Nations’ Lodge on Tuesday. An invitation to attend the R.A. Chapter, No. 4, Tiraaru, for the purpose of demonstrating the granting of the A.D. and P.A. degree ceremony, and also to confer on its chapter the primitive degree, was accepted, and March 13 was arranged as the most suitable date to journey to Timaru. A special set of members was elected as primitive degree officers. At the next meeting of the chapter it was decided to invito all members of the order who wished to join this primitive degree to attend the initiation. Supper was served by the steward, Bro. Carr, and the meeting closed early. The Olive Branch Juvenile Lodge held its fortnightly meeting, A.D. Bro. Aitken presiding over a good attendance for the start of the year. Superintendent Bro. Morris was in charge. The Secretary reported that all debts had been paid. A letter was received from a member of Lily of the Valley Lodge, stating that two prizes would be given for the best description and delivery of ‘ How I Spent My Holidays.’ After the preliminary business had been disposed of, a competition was held, when 13 competitors faced the judges, Bros. Morris and Powell, who, after a careful hearing, awarded the first place to V.A. Bro. Winter for a graphic account of his ■ trip to. Palmerston North and bach, and the second to M.C. Bro. Bradshaw for his holiday in North Otago. P.G.G. Bro. B. Reid made the presentations, and commended the brothers on their work.
