MANCHESTER UNITY
i The fortnightly meeting of Loval Albion Lodge, presided over by N*G. tiro. M, Boulter, was fairly well attended. Notice was received from the ' district executive to the effect that the past officers’ and purple degree meeting would be held on February 8 in the lodge room of Loyal Hand and Heart, favourable reports were received of the progress made by the committee appointed to run the annual M.U. picmc on February 26. The membership of Loyal Albion is rapidly increasing, - four further members joining at this meeting. The business having been transacted, the meeting adjourned and those present indulged in indoor bowls, a game much enjoyed by all. Loyal Valley met, as usual, in the Albany Street HafJ, N.G. Bro. J. Swan presiding over a sparsely-attended gathering. Members generally expressed dissatisfaction with the initiation ritual now in use, and it was resolved to place a remit on the business paper for the forthcoming meeting of district committee, ..embodying a request to the Home authorities for its revision. The office of guardian was declared vacant, and P.G. Bro. M‘Farlano was appointed. At the conclusion of ordinary business a debate was held on the subject of radio programmes, the contenders being a team from Valley Lodge, led by P.G. Bro. M’Farlane (in the affirmative) against a team from Loyal Centenary, headed by N.G. Bro. F. Carruthers (negative). Some good argument was adduced, every participant taking full advantage of the time limit. P.P.6.M. Bro. A. 11. Lawry adjudicated, and pronounced in favour of Valley. eluded the Prov. D.G.M., Bro. W. Sellar, and members of Loyal Dunedin and Centenary Lodges. The half-yearly past officers’ and purple degree meeting was held in the M. Stubb, in opening proceedings, made feeling reference to the loss sustained by P.P.G.M. Bro. J. H. F. Hamel in the death of his wife, and the loss to Prov. Treas. Bro. A. Sligo of his elder brother.
