SOUTH DUNEDIN UNEMPLOYED ASSOCIATION

The fortnightly general meeting of the South Dunedin' Unemployed Association was held in the association’s rooms, Glasgow street, on Thursday. The president (Mr G. S. Brown) occupied the chair..

Correspondence was received from numerous bodies, and was satisfactorily dealt with.

The . treasurer (Mr J. A. . Ramsay) gave a detailed report concerning the activities of the concert committee, and' also the Christmas Cheer Committee. The financial statement was then taken and showed notwithstanding a few reverses of late, the association was still in a very satisfactory position. Numerous complaints were received concerning various matters, and these were left to the president and secretary (Mrs Knights) to have adjusted. It was decided that an invitation be extended to candidates from the Labour Party who will be standing for the various local bodies to address a meeting in the near future. A motion respecting members of the N.U.W.M. and other organisations being debarred from membership was defeated.

Before closing .the meeting the presi. dent asked those present to remind old members that meetings were still taking place, and, although they themselves might be in work, there was still plenty to do in assisting the less fortunate and in helping the members in distress.
