Shield Matches. Results of this week’s matches: B Grade.—Leith 5. St. Clair 1. C Grade.—Montecillo 3, Opoho 3; Leith 3, Tainui I. 3; Caversham 4, Watoa 2; Logan Park 5, Caversham 11.
Draw for Next Tuesday. A Grade.—Watea v. Logan Park, at association lawns. This match will complete the A grade for the season. There will be no B or C grade matches next week owing to the close proximity of the local tournament, which commences on Thursday. Fern Matches. The first postponemnet of the season was on Saturday last, the weather conditions in the morning being too nniploasant for play. To-day Watea played Punga on the association lawns. Tainui Club. A team of six players from Watea visited the Tainui lawns on Tuesday at the invitation of the Tainui Club. A very pleasant day was spent, progressive doubles being played on three lawns. Lunch and tea were served in the pavilion and on the verandah, and the visitors were delighted with the hospitality shown. The Watea players were Mesdames Colquhoun,.Davidson, Tidey, Shaw, Rowlatt, and C. Anderson, and the Tainui team consisted of Mesdames Adamson, M'Natty, Best, Cameron, Sagar, and Miss Black. Otago Tournament. An excellent entry has been received by the secretary (Mrs J. M‘Donald) for this tourament, which commences on Thursday next at Logan Park. Seventy competitors have sent in their names, and the entries total well over 150. Visitors are coming from Christchurch, Waimate, Gore, Cromwell, Balclutha, and Invercargill. B grade competitors are in the majority for this tournament, as some A grade events were run off in connection with the South Island event only recently completed. The tournament will opdn at 9.30 a.m. on the association lawns, and play will commence immediately. The manager is Mrs John M‘Donald, and Mrs Cornish is in charge of the cafeteria. Lunches and teas will be served in the Logan. Park Club’s pavilion.
