RAGES AT WINGATUI

SUMMER MEETING CONCLUDED OH TUESDAY

For its summer meeting for 1037 the Dunedin Jockey Clufb was favoured with very pleasant racing weather, although an absence of sun and an overcast eky made lady patrons choose rather suits and dark ensembles in preference to the pretty frocks that one expects to see at the Christmas meeting, and very few outstanding costumes were noted. Furs were largely worn with suits, some beautiful throw-overs being seen and some smart little fur capes. The environs of the course itself were looking very attractive, with the fresh green grass and beds full of summer bloom, marigolds, sweet William, roses, etc., making a lovely splash of colour. Among those noticed on the stands were:—Mrs E. R. Harty, who wore on Monday a smart black-and-white ensemble, with black hat and short fur cape, and on the second day a nigger brown suit, the coat fur trimmed, and a chic brown felt hat.
