The wool sales concluded with an offering of 9,340 bales, of which 4,494 were from New Zealand and 7,631 were sold. There was a fairly good selection with improved demand for the best kinds. Throughout the series 73,400 bales were offered and 57,000 were sold. The Home trade bought 29,500 and the Continent 27,500. • The tendency throughout was steady at a decline, but competition was keen. Compared with the closing of the previous series prices were 15 per cent, to «i 5 per cent, lower.

Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. Ltd. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Elder Ltd., dated 26th inst. bales have closed firm. Competition was keen. Continental buyers were operating freely, and Home buyers _ operaing more freely. Compared with last London sales’ closing rates greasy merino, best descriptions, declined 15 per cent.; greasy merino and other descriptions declined 20 per cent, to 25 per cent.; scoured merino, best, declined 10 per cent, to 15 per cent.; scoured merino, other , descriptions, declined 20 per cent, to 25 per cent.; crossbred, scoured, declined 25 per cent., crossbred, greasy, and slipe crossbred declined 30 per cent.” The range of prices was as follows: 60-64’s, New Zealand merino (yielding 48 per cent.), 12 Jd; at close of previous series, 15)d. 56’s, half-bred (yielding 64 per cent.), 12-Jd; at close of previous series, 17)d. 50’s, fine cross-bred (yielding 70 per cent.), 12d; at close of previous series, 16)d. 44-46’s, preparing (yielding 76 per cent.); lid; at close of previous series, 16Jd. 44-48’s, carding (yielding 74 per cent.), 10Jd • at close of previous series, 16d. 40-44’s, carding (yielding 75 per cent.), 10ad; at close of previous series, 16d. 36-40’s, carding (yielding 76 per cent.), —; at close of previous series, 15)d. 46-48’s, mixed preparing and carding (yielding 74 per cent.), lid; at close of previous series, 16Jd. 48-50’s, mixed preparing and carding (yielding 72 per cent.), Hid; at close of previous sales, 16) d. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. Ltd. have received the following cable from their London office: —The wool sales closed with average attendance of buyers on the bench. The competition was good, and Continental and Bradford buyers were the chief operators. Of the 73.000 bales offered 57,000 were sold. The prices ruling at the commencement or this series are in brackets. National Mortgage and Agency Com. pany of New Zealand Limited is this morning in receipt of the following cablegram from their London office, under date 26th inst.: —“ The auctions closed here to-day. Competition only fair. Compared with opening rates we quote:—Greasy merino, best, no change; greasy merino, average, id to Id cheaper; half-breds. 50-56 s, Id cheaper; cross-breds, 36’s to 50 s, Id. cheaper; slipe wools generally Id cheaper. “ Total quantity offered 73,365 hales, sold 57,000 bales, carried forward 60,600, including 28.000 bales from New Zealand.” •
