WEATHER FORECAST
FINE AND WARMER The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the south*' ern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone now covers the New Zealand area, with its centre west of the North Island. A moderate depression is located over the south-west Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate bub freshening west to north-westerly winds. Weather fair to fine and becoming warmer, but cool to-night. Later cloud increasing and some rain probable, especially in western and far southern areas. Seas moderate to rather rough. GOOD WEEK-END INDICATED. To-day was perfectly fine, a typical summer day, and also one of the hottest foi two months. ■ The weather appears to be settled, and a rainless and warm week-end can be expected if a high barometer is any indication, the reading at noon being 30 (rising). The temperatures were also high. At. noon the maximum and minimum recordings were 75.5 deg and 61.5 deg. The_ respective readings yesterday (which was fine in the afternoon) were 65.5 deg and 44.5 deg.
