COUNTRY WEEK CRICKET

TOURNAMENT CONTINUED TWO INTERESTING MATCHES The country week cricket tournament was continued yesterday at the North Ground, a University side defeating Southland by only two runs, and South Otago defeating Vincent on the first innings by 38 runs. The small scoring in both matches could be partly ascribed to the wickets, which definitely favoured the bowlers. The main match produced an interesting finish, Southland’s total of 168 being passed by the last two Varsity batsmen. The highest scorer of the day was D. Wishart, of the Vincent team, who assisted in giving his side a good start, only to experience the cheap dismissals of the remainder of the side and its defeat by South Otago. Details:— UNIVERSITY v.
