Two masked gunmen shot dead Fred Blacker, who was walking along the street with his wife. The victim, who was an active unionist, fled from Indiana in May after the issue of a warrant in connection with throwing a stench bomb in a film theatre, for which two other men are serving prison sentences. Enemies in Indiana Labour cricles are believed to be responsible.
