SURF LIFE SAVING
GOOD COMPETITION AT ST. CLAIR * The enthusiasm for surf life saving work in the St. Clair Club was shown by the splendid entry and good standard of work in the annual competition for the Sagar Cup last Sunday. No fewer than 11 teams, comprising 44 swimmers, took part, and as half of these were junior members there need be no fear of the future outlook for surf life saving in Dunedin. W. Warren, the former Auckland junior surf champion, swam consistently in the belt in both heat and final in the winning team, which was captained by V. Aldous, and E. B. Tease put up si brilliant performance in the heat, but failed to show the same form in the final. H. Callender, the former Otago intermediate breast stroke cham-
pion, was another good performer. With the number of capable swimmers taking up surf work, it should not be long before the St. Clair Club makes a bold bid for the highest honours in Dominion life saving competition.
