WEDDINGS

FERGUSON—PAUL. On the evening of October 27, at Trinity Church, the marriage was solemnised by the Rev. L. B. Neale of Lena G., fourth daughter of Mrs and the late Mr B. W. Paul, to John Boyd, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Ferguson, of Dunedin. Mr J- A. Debenham acted Sts best man, and Mr Cawley presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr Roy Paul, wore a frock of deep cream satin, with a high neckline and a row of satin buttons to the waist at the back. The skirt was cut on fitting lines to form a long sweeping train, while the sleeves, which were very full, cam© to J a point over the hand. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a halo of pleated tulle and a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of St. Joseph lilies. She was attended by her sister. Miss Kyra Paul, who was frocked in duck-egg blue lace, made with a close-fitting bodice and a Peter Pan collar, the skirt falling in frilled godets from knee to hem line. She wore on her head a silver halo, and carried a bouquet of yellow tulips, irises, and maidenhair fern. Little Maureen Hammond (niece of the bride),_ who looked very pretty in her long pink frock of floral crepe de chine, acted as flower girl. A reception was held in the Vedic Cafe, where- the guests were received by the bride’s mother. Mrs Paul, who was attired in a black floral frock of heavy silk, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs Ferguson wore a frock of figured velvet, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of heliotrope anemones.

THOMPSON—JOHNSON. The marriage was solemnised at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Northeast Valley, yesterday morning, of Mr F. R. Thompson and Miss Hypatia Johnson. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father D. P, Buckley. MATTHEWS—CHAPMAN. On Saturday, October 23, at the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, Edna Bernice Evelyn, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs G. L. C. Chapman, of Highgate, Dunedin, was married to Robert Johnstone, elder son of the late Mr J. Matthews and Mrs Matthews, of Dunedin. The Rev. H. A. Mitchell performed the ceremony, and Air Arthur Pywell rendered appropriate music. The bride wore _ a close-fitting gown of white cire satin and a tulle veil. She was attended by her only sister, Miss Joyce Chapman, who wore £j frock of powder 1 blue georgette, while the bridegroom’s sister-in-law. Airs J. G. Afatthews, of Christchurch, acted as matron of honour. Air A. Wylie fulfilled the duties of best man. The reception was held in Lake’s Restaurant, where the bride’s mother, wearing coral pink embossed deque, received the guests. The happy couple later left by car for the north, the bride wearing a bottle-green Harris tweed costume, with accessories to match.
