DANCE RECITAL

Tlxe forthcoming recital to be presented at His Majesty’s Theatre by the Otago School of Dancing will be welcomed by those interested in local dance recitals. Miss Gwen Webster has arranged a diversified programme with originality as its keynote and which will uphold the high standard set in the past. That bright, “ snappy stylo which has made tap ballets so popular is' well displayed in the ‘Postman’s Hour ’ and the ‘ Fencing Ballet, while the colourful ‘ Valse Fantasque and the charm of ‘ Bygone Days,’ afford ample scope for the ability of both teacher and pupils. The “ tiny tots,” who are always so popular, will be particularly attractive in the number ‘ Dance of the Blue Bells.’ The ‘ Nautical Scena ’ introduces ‘ Barnacle Bill ’ and this laughable character is brought to life in a most realistic manner. The programme is interspersed with solos, duos, trios, and carefully chosen vocal interludes. The principal has excelled herself _in designing attractive frocks and this, combined with effective lighting and stage decorations, should make the recital an entertainment of outstanding merit. The orchestra will be under the able leadership of Miss Roma Baker. The box plans will open at Begg’s on Tuesday.
