He designed scenes anf costumes for many plays.] MR JAMES SCpn MAIN The late Mr James Scott Maiii (familiarly known as “ Scotty ”) was one of the best authorities on fish and, insect life in the Dominion. He was one of the pioneers of fish hatching in New Zealand and was greatly interested in the study of fish. He was al great favourite among North Otago anglers, and his “fish” stories were a never-ending source of delight and interest. By his death the district hoi lost a popular sportsman. MR WILLIAM SGOn A well-known resident of Mosgiel, Mr William Scott, passed away a few days ago. His first connection with the Taieri was in his school days at North Taieri School, he having arrived by the Sevilla As a boy in 1864. His father, Mr Charles Scott, was a blacksmith uj. Dunedin. After leaving school, William went to work in his father’s shop.) On learning his trade he found employment as a blacksmith _on the Otago Central railway formation worts,_ andi later in the quarry.. Following this he was occupied as a sur&iceman on the county roads. He was a member of the Druids’ Lodge and a keen cricketer,, Two years ago Mr and Mrs Scott celebrated their golden wedding. The deceased is survived by his widow and a family of six sons.
