MANNEQUIN PARADE AT SAVOY

SPONSORED BY SHILLINGS LTD. The Savoy looked particularly attractive yesterday afternoon, arranged with striped Continental cloths in pastel shades of blue and pink and with lovely spring flowers _ (polyanthus, anemones, iris and tulips) to tone, when Shillings Ltd. staged a very smart fashion parade, the mannequins being all members of tho staff. Most of the frocks shown were American models, with tho exception of tho first group which consisted of English tailored suits and were chosen personally by Miss Worthington, the firm’s buyer, who lias just returned from a trip to the States. No *two frocks were alike. Spring Suits. In the first group—spring suits—some smart models were. seen. Specially noticed was a suit in black boucle the long coat finished with blanket stitching in green and the tunic blouse in green to tone. Fox furs and a chic black toque completed this outfit. Blues, mustard and the new London tan were among tho colours showing. Tho American two-piece spring suit strikes a different note; the materials used here aro shark skin, taffeta and printed georgette. Simplicity with extreme chic and novelty finishes are used effectively, including narrow holts and novelty necklines. Stripes cut on the diagonal add a smart note to many of the more sporty models. Play Suits. Play suits cover a wide variety of stylos, materials and colours. Some feature shorts and blouses with an accompanying full length coat. The latter can be worn as a dressing gown or as a breakfast coat, when week-end-ing in tho country or at the seaside. Sun-back tops with shorts and a wrap-on skirt is another useful model. Tho eyer popular white combined with navy, in this case, with a navy and white spotted bolero, was a very smart model. Afternoon Frocks. Afternoon frocks are definitely longer, although short of ankle length. Crepe do chine, sponge crepes, taffeta and striped georgettes ai'e used. One smart model in black georgette embroidered in tinv hunches of flowers was specially noted. Evening Gowns. For summer evening wear, light and dainty ninons and chiffons are effective. Daintiness is here the keynote. Frocks are decolette and coatees or redingotes to tone are featured. Tiny mannequins created an added interest, displaying the latest in children’s wear—printed frocks for the tiny tots with matching panties. Bridal Tableau. The parade ended with a charming bridal tableau, the central figure in a frock of white ninon and lace with orthodox veil and a bouquet of lily-of-the-valley and the two maids in blue and. pink ninon respectively noth bandeaux and horseshoe bouquets to tone.
