MELBOURNE, October 8. Mr Desmond Davis, the owner of Floodtide, arrived at Melbourne to-day. He refused the big offer for Floodtide made on behalf of Messrs Freeman and Stanley, the owners of Silver Standard. Avenger showed improvement to-day, and a decision whether he will run in the Guineas will be made following a consultation between the trainer, J. Holt, and the owner, Mr Percy Miller, who is expected in Melbourne to-night. S. Burgoihe will ride Vaalmore in the Melbourne Cup, and H. Bastian Stevenage in the Caulfield Cup. M. M'Carten’s mounts to-morrow are Nuffield in the Debutant Stakes, and Ajax in the Guineas. K. Voitre will ride Keyrock •in the Debutant Stakes. - >
