SPRING MEETING OPENS IN FINE WEATHER HURDLE RACE TO TRAVEHHA TRIAL TD LORD NUFFIELD . Last season the Dunedin Jockey Club hold nine days’ racing at Wiugatui, and was not favoured by hhe weather at any of its four meetings. The 193738 season opened to-day under . much more favourable conditions, bright sunshine with a strong breeze and a change of luck in the weather, was due the club and its supporters.^ When the Otago Hunt held its meet ing at Wingatui about six weeks ago the course was in a very sodden condition, and received a bad chopping up. To get the track back into condition again has entailed a great deal of work by the club’s caretaking staff, and, aided by fairly good weather during the past month, a good job has been maide, and, excepting for being a trifle slow, it was in good order for this season of the year. The good programme provide _ attracted a fair attendance, and again it included, a big percentage of visitors from Canterbury and Southland.
