NATIONAL HEALTH
STEADY PROGRESS IN BRITAIN LOWEST TUBERCULOSIS DEATH RATE RECORDED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 3. (Received August 4, at 11.30 a.m.) The lowest tuberculosis death rate recorded is disclosed in the year’s report of the Ministry of Health. There is less maternal mortality and steady progress in other branches of national Health. Sir Kingsley Wood declared that English men and women, particularly children, were enjoying a healthier and fuller life than at any time since the industrial revolution.
The maternal mortality of 3.81 per 1,000 was lower than 4 per 1,000 for the first year since 1924. The improvements are attributed to better living habits, removal of slums, and purer milk.
