ACTION IN NEW SOUTH WALES SYDNEY, July 23. Convictions for illegal betting within the Sydney metropolitan district and Newcastle for six months to June 30 numbered 1,800, and the lines amounted to £13,427. The Government contemplates stamping out starting-price betting alone; the lines of the Queensland legislation, and the matter will be a major issue in the forthcoming State elections.
