B STATIONS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I personally do not hold a brief for any of the B stations, being an impartial listener; but of the three stations left I consider that for splendidly varied programmes, educational and entertaining, 4ZB loads in the South Island. Those people are very versatile indeed, and whoever is responsible for the programme, arranging and pro-

duction, deserves the sincere thanks of a large number of listeners. Another factor that affects B stations adversely is their announcers. The large majority of them have far from pleasing voices—in most cases hard and unpleasant—and this detracts enormously from the pleasure of wireless entertainment. There are two men who, in my' opinion, are ideal announcers. One is Mr Cherry, announcer at 4ZL, and the other one is at 4ZB. Those gentlemen have ideal wireless voices, and ax - e a delight to listen to. We listeners deserve the best that can be given to us, and therefore I submit that the B stations concerned should reorganise their programmes so as to give us the variety wo need. Also, they should arrange to suppply announcers with personality, and, above all, with happy voices, that cheer and stimulate, not depress and jar, as many do here. When that is done the B stations will find that they have the public solidly behind them, and not divided in opinion, as they are at present. The B stations are resting in a bed of their own making, and the fault is theirs alone.—l am, etc., Superset. June 30.
