WRESTLING

SAVAGE BEATS WALKER [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 24. Displaying his old-time guile and technique, George Walker made his reappearance in the Town Hall to-night before a crowded house. His opponent, however, was the formidable Steve Savage, a scientific, orthodox wrestler, who gained the decision on points, with the falls even. Savage obtained his fall in the fourth round. Walker had dumped him twice, but when ho pounced on Savage to press him the latter turned the tables smartly. In the last round, however. Walker pitched Savage about the ring like a sack of chaff, gave him an aeroplane spin, and deposited and pinned him. The referee, however, awarded the decision to Savage, who had given a masterly display of maternff.
