HOUSING SURVEY
TEN INSPECTORS FOR DUNEDIN GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY FOR WAGES The matter of proceeding with the housing surrey of the city in terms of “ The Housing Survey Act, 1935, and regulations thereunder has received further consideration by the General Committee of the City Council. The committee reports that arrangements are being made for the appointment of the staff necessary to carry out the work, it being estimated that a minimum of 10 inspectors will be required in the initial stages. It is proposed that the wages in each case be £4 10s per week, and that suitable men be engaged ■ through the Placement Office. It is further intended to make application to the Labour Department for payment of the unemployment subsidy of £2 5s per week for married men in respect of all men employed on the survey. The question of making provision for the expenditure has been referred to the Finance Committee...
