VALUABLE PROPERTY

MR SAUL SOLOMON'S ESTATE ■4 SECTIONS SOLD FOR £7OO EACH Two sections of the recently-suß-divided property of Mr Saul Solomon brought £7OO each at yesterday afternoon’s. auction sale. . ' Keen interest was manifested in th* sale of this beautiful estate in Bellebnowes, as was only to be expected in view of the’ fact that the property, was for many years one of, the. show" places of Dunedin. The magnificent gardens surrounding the substantial mansion on the site represented 30 years of continual endeavour by Mr Saul Solomon to bring them into a high state of perfection, money being no object in the purchase of rare plants and shrubs to adorn the property, the fame of which extended throughout New, Zealand. . . During the process of subdivision extreme care was taken to preserve the natural beauty of each section, this attractive feature of each of the 14 building sites being the cause of the unusual public interest in yesterday s auction sale. Although only two of the sections were disposed of under, the hammer, the remaining 12 sections failing to reach the. reserve placed upon them, there was spirited bidding among the 200 prospective purchasers who attended the auction. The sections scud were Nos. 2 and 3, and although the remainder were passed in several sales are pending. Messrs James Samson and Co. were the auctioneers in yesterday’s transactions.
