MACANDREW BAY AMENITIES.
to' the editor. Sir, —In the .name of all publicspirited citizens and lovers of native trees and shrubs, I wish to protest against the that has occurred; and is still going on, to the trees and shrubs planted on the road en route to Macandrew Bay. Some three years ago certain public-spirited citizens of Dunedin and Macandrew Bay went to the expense and labour of planting out these shrubs with the view of making the drive down here attractive and pleasing to the eye of all those visiting this beautiful seaside resort. Unfortunately certain irresponsible elements in our population are not content unless they are destroying something. The latest act of vandalism occurred last week-end, when all the beautiful foliage of the toi-toi was pulled out and left scattered all oveir the road. We have the names of two youths _ resident in Dunedin who had a part in this wanton destruction. The names will be forwarded to the police, and in all probability a court case will eventuate.—l am, etc., W. Brookman, Secretary North-east Harbour Ratepayers aind Householders’ Association (Incorporated). ; April 20.
