THE CORONATION

MOSGIEL'S ARRANGEMENTS A public meeting was held at Mbsgiel last evening to discuss arrangements for the local celebration of the Coronation. Mr A. F. Quelch (mayor) presided. It was decided to fall in line with tho other centres and read the proclamation at 11 a.m.. this to be followed by a united religious service. A general discussion followed, and it was agreed to proceed on the same lines as observed on the recent Silver Jubilee Coronation Day, with processions, concert, and dance. Mr L. B. Borrow promised tho assistance of tho Mosgiel Municipal Band. In response to a question, the Mayor said that in all likelihood the Borough Council would supply evergreens for decorations. Mr Borrow stated that tho local R.S. A. favoured a procession and intended including a decorated vehicle.— It was decided that processions be held in the afternoon and evening. On Mr H. Millar’s suggestion it was decided to ask all public bodies, lodges, etc., td participate. Mr Kayo, rector of tho High School, said tho school children would assemble as usual, and he hoped that, ’ an approved ceremony, they would be free for tho day and could join in the procession. Two committees were appointed to prepare a programme to submit to tho council: Procession Messrs _ Fin, Cheyno, R. J. Campbell, I. Pringle, Finnie, and R. Wylie; concert—Messrs K. J. Mason, Chadwick. Gcorgo Hendry, L. B. Borrow, and Walls, with power to add.
